SEVERAL road crossings for pedestrians and cyclists could be built near the new Amazon distribution centre in Poole.
Amazon finally confirmed it was becoming a tenant at the site in Sterte Avenue West in a move which will see the existing Christchurch depot close.
The online retailer said operations will begin at the new parcel distribution centre ahead of the busy Christmas period.
BCP Council has now announced plans to install three crossings in Sterte Avenue West near the warehouse.
A public notice providing details on the proposals states that there will be a zebra crossing and a parallel crossing on two arms of the new roundabout at the northern end of the road, which is where the depot is accessed.
The plan also includes a parallel crossing opposite the car park to the Citroen dealership which would link up with the cycle path that runs on the western side of Holes Bay Road.
Parallel crossings enable cyclists to cross a road alongside a traditional zebra crossing for pedestrians with the same level of priority.
It looks similar to a zebra crossing with the additional cycle crossing area, which runs parallel to the zebra area.
