EMERGENCY gas works causing disruption in Upton will continue over the weekend and into next week, SGN has confirmed.

Temporary traffic lights are in operation in Blandford Road North while crews from SGN carry out “complex” repairs to a gas main.

The work has also caused the closure of the nearby Upton Close.

Providing an update, an SGN spokesperson told the Echo: “We’re continuing emergency repairs to our gas main in Blandford Road North, Upton. Two-way temporary lights remain in place in Blandford Road North between Aldi and Upton Close.

“We’ve also closed Upton Close at its junction with Blandford Road North for everyone’s safety.

“We’re making good progress with repairs however this is a complex engineering project and more repair work is required. We know this is a busy route, so we are continuing to carry out our work as quickly and safely as possible.

“It’s too early to say how long it will take before our work is complete. The temporary traffic lights and road closure will remain in place at least throughout this weekend and into next week.”
