A MALE motorcyclist in his 40s died this morning after a crash with a car in Christchurch.
The man, from Bournemouth, was riding a black Kawasaki motorbike when it collided with a grey Suzuki Swift in Barrack Road at the junction with Avenue Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.50am on Friday, September 30 of the incident and the casualty's next of kin has been informed.
The road remains closed while emergency services carry out an investigation of the scene.
Traffic in Christchurch has been very busy all day as a result of the road closure as part of the A35 is closed. Residents are using Fairmile Road as a diversion route.
Witnesses report seeing an air ambulance landing at Barrack Road recreation ground.
Parents at the nearby Christchurch Infant School have been advised to leave their cars at home and avopid Barrack Road.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who sadly died.
“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to please come forward.
“I am keen to speak to any motorists who were travelling along Barrack Road and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closure is in place. This allows us to safely deal with the incident.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 08.48hrs to a road traffic collision in Christchurch. We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance.”
