Dorset Police are investigating after a woman was hit by a car while crossing a road in Dorset earlier this month.

Police are only issuing an appeal about the incident on September 3 now, as the woman's injuries have only just come to light.

The incident occurred at around 12.25pm in the High Street when a woman aged in her 90s was walking across the road when she was involved in a collision with an orange car, believed to be a Honda Jazz.

The pedestrian was treated by the ambulance and did not immediately require hospital treatment. However, she subsequently attended hospital for treatment, and it was reported that her injuries were believed to be serious.

Police Constable Kier Dagnall, of the traffic unit, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this collision, and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

“I appreciate this incident was some time ago, but it was not reported to us until several days afterwards and it has since been established that the victim has been left with serious injuries.

“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may still have dashcam that captured the incident.”
