A HUNT is underway to reclaim three motocross bikes stolen from a garden shed by hooded thieves, leaving the owners “devastated”.

Private CCTV footage shows the moment thieves made off from a property in Lincoln Road, Parkstone, with three Yamaha YZ125 Motocross motorcycles belonging to a Poole landscaper and his two stepchildren.

At around 4am on Thursday, September 22, at least three hooded youths entered the garden of Matthew Carter and his partner while they slept to steal the beloved bikes.

Matthew, 30, told the Echo: “I woke up at half past five, I don’t know why but I instantly checked my phone. When I did, I had a notification from my Ring Video Doorbell saying someone had been in the garden. As soon as I checked my phone, I quickly got up and went downstairs and saw the shed open and the bikes gone.

“I’ve got CCTV footage of them starting four houses down from us, jumping over three garden fences to get to ours. They just went straight through them and targeted ours. This is what’s frustrating me.”

While in the garden, they entered a shed to take the bikes before exiting the property via a side gate and into the road where they drove off.

Matthew believes the thieves knew the bikes would be in the shed and that it was targeted, although adds he has “no idea” how or why.

Footage also suggests a silver Vauxhall Astra was linked to the theft after it was driven away from the scene alongside the stolen bikes.

Matthew, who owns his own landscaping business, says the bikes have since been spotted in several locations around Poole.

In addition, one motorist reported seeing a bike matching one of the stolen three being driven down the A31 near Ashley Heath towards Ringwood.

The motorist sent dashcam footage to Matthew, who identified it as his stolen bike.

He added: “I just want my bikes back. I’ve spent endless hours riding them. We are all really devastated.

"We’ve worked so hard to get those bikes, afford them, and look after them. It’s just one of those things.”

Dorset Police says it received a report at 6.50am on Thursday, September 22, of the theft of three motocross bikes in Lincoln Road.

A spokesperson said: “It is believed the bikes were stolen between approximately 3.10am and 4.10am earlier the same day.

"Officers are carrying out enquiries into the thefts and have been conducting house-to-house visits in the area.

“The investigation is continuing. No arrests have been made.”
