Police have released more details about a crash in which two people fled the scene on Friday night.

A crash took place in Alder Road in Poole on Friday, leaving two vehicles with significant damage.

Over the weekend, Dorset Police said two people had made off from the scene.

The police helicopter was also deployed as part of a search.

On Monday morning, police released further details.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 10.17pm on Friday 23 September 2022 officer on patrol in the area of Wallisdown Road in Bournemouth became aware of a vehicle that appeared to be driving at excess speed.

"An attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but it reportedly did not stop for officers.

"The vehicle – a blue Audi Q7 - is reported to have failed to stop at a red light in Yarmouth Road and was subsequently involved in a collision with another vehicle at the junction of Alder Road in Poole.

"It was reported that several other vehicles were also damaged as a result of the collision and that the three occupants of the Audi left the scene on foot.

"A 19-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. Further searches were carried out in the area, but no further arrests were made.

"There were no reports of any serious injuries."
