THE police helicopter was launched over a man in possession of a knife at a recreation ground in Poole.
Police were called to reports of a man with a knife in Branksome Recreation Ground just before 9pm on Thursday, September 22.
Officers attended and were assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said officers made efforts to negotiate with the man during the incident which lasted for around two and a half hours.
No one was injured or threatened during the incident which concluded at around 11.30pm.
The man was then taken to receive the appropriate care.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 8.54pm on Thursday 22 September 2022 of a man in possession of a knife in the recreation ground off Recreation Road in Poole.
“Officers attended, assisted by the NPAS helicopter, and made efforts to negotiate with the man.
“There were no reports of any injuries sustained or threats made to members of the public in the area.“
The spokesperson added: “The incident concluded at around 11.30pm and the man was taken to receive the appropriate care.”
