RESIDENTS were told to keep their windows and doors shut following a fire in an open area just outside Wimborne.
Firefighter crews from Wimborne and Poole were called to a fire in the open at 1.55pm on Wednesday, September 21, in Pamphill following reports of an area of shrubland and hay bales alight.
Lots of smoke was reported in the area while the incident was ongoing.
Crews used main lines to extinguish the main blaze and, at around 5:30pm, left the remaining area of fire to burn out under supervision of the landowner.
A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The incident was left open for a re-inspection this morning (September 22) and when crews attended they found further hotspots which caused some smoke in the area so we put out some messaging to locals to make them aware.”
