POLICE patrols were carried out at two Poole schools following repeated reports of parents parking illegally while dropping their children off.

Two Community Support Officers were out bright and early on Wednesday, September 21, outside Livingstone Road Infant and Junior schools on foot patrol.

This comes after the service received recent reports of individuals parking their vehicles and dropping off their children on the yellow zigzag lines outside the schools.

A Poole Police spokesperson said: “Please note parking on these yellow zigzag lines is illegal and drivers are likely to face a fine for doing so.

“Rule 243 of the Highway Code indicates a range of places where motorists must not park, including on a bend, a dropped kerb or the brow of a hill.

“It also states that drivers must not park near a school entrance.

“These parking measures are implemented for a reason – to protect children and members of the public. Parking obstructs visibility for parents and children trying to cross the road, which is clearly highly dangerous.

“Stay safe and avoid parking dangerously.”
