A VEHICLE with six outstanding speed camera activations in Dorset has been seized by police and its driver ticketed.
Dorset Police’s No Excuse road safety officers sighted a Vauxhall Astra in Boscombe on Tuesday, September 20, which was known to them for various offences.
The vehicle first came to their attention for having six outstanding speed camera activations in the area. Despite letters to the registered keeper to establish who was driving the vehicle, police received no reply.
There was no insurance showing on the database and the MOT had expired in May.
After stopping the vehicle, the driver stated the vehicle was a student pool vehicle with various people using it, taking out short term insurance cover for a few hours.
A No Excuse spokesperson said: “Although the driver was adamant he had insurance, he was unable to provide anything. There was an excuse for everything we asked but no insurance policy was provided.
“The driver received a ticket for no insurance or MOT and the vehicle was seized.
“We will await contact from the registered keeper now, then we can progress with the camera activations.”
