DEVELOPERS behind a controversial housing project in Canford Cliffs are “likely” to submit more planning applications – despite work nearing completion.

Following a recent meeting, understood to have involved Bayview Developments, its agents and officers from Natural England and BCP Council, it is believed yet more applications adapting originally approved plans are being readied.

As reported, BCP Council has been investigating the development since at least March this year and have previously found examples of unauthorised building work – following outrage from residents who complained the properties had “got way out of hand” when compared to their original application descriptions.

The developer recently submitted a retrospective application for one property, described as an ‘annexe’ building, to have a non-material amendment to change the description of a room earmarked for a ground floor swimming pool altered by removing any mention of the pool.

This caused residents to suggest the developers would use the space for more living space, turning the ‘annexe’ building into a separate dwelling.

When asked for an update on the investigation, a BCP Council spokesperson told the Echo: “A site meeting was held earlier this month and it is likely that further planning applications will be submitted by the developers, although there is no guarantee that such applications will succeed.

“The investigation remains ongoing.”
