HUNDREDS of cyclists have signed up to a charity bike ride taking place in Dorset next month.

Riders of all ages and abilities have entered the 10th anniversary Rotary Dorset Bike Ride which will be held on Sunday, October 9.

Starting and finishing at Longthorns Campsite, Wareham, the challenge invites cyclists to take part in one of five routes, all in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Organiser Richard Burnett said: “Our event will raise urgently needed funds for cancer research. We are proud that over the ten years it has been running, we have raised an outstanding £300,000.”

Entrants can choose between five routes, covering a range of distances from 22 miles to 108 miles, opening the event to families and amateurs, as well as serious cyclists.

Richard said: “We have shaped routes that take in some amazing views from Corfe Castle to West Lulworth, from Shipton Gorge to West Compton, from Milton Abbas to Bere Regis.

“Our aim is for all entrants to have a great day out, whether that’s families riding together, or competitive cyclists pushing their limits."
