A ‘landmark’ Dorset pub adored by locals and tourists alike - The Old Granary is Pub of the Week.

Found in Wareham, The Old Granary is a well-loved pub forming part of the Hall and Woodhouse chain.

It is understood to be one of the most photographed venues in Dorset- which is no surprise with its picturesque riverside location and views over the Purbeck Hills.

Manager Frederic Fourny described its setting as “fantastic”.

He said: “We are literally by the river. We’ve got about 100 seats inside and 150 outside. There’s a patio and a top roof terrace with a bar. It’s just amazing really.

“The location makes it special- it’s a fantastic location.”

Frederic also spoke about the pub’s friendly atmosphere, which has seen it remain popular with Wareham residents, and visiting tourists.

He said: “It’s all about friendly and family vibes, and a great food experience.

“It can be a dining experience for any occasion really.

“During the summer we trade a lot with tourists, but we still have a good and solid bunch of locals supporting us throughout the winter.”

Visitors to the The Old Granary can enjoy brunch, coffee and cakes, light lunches, after work drinks, romantic or celebratory dinners, and of course Sunday roasts.

And being a Hall and Woodhouse pub, there's plenty of pub classics listed on the menu.

Frederic said: “We are a pub and it’s a family run brewery, so all the pub classics are there like pies, fish and chips, and burgers.

"But we also work a lot on speicals. We have Asian influences, continental influences, things like that."

But in recent weeks, people haven’t just been turning up to The Old Granary for food or drinks; the pub has also been hosting movie nights in partnership with the Purbeck Film Festival.

In September, the pub screened West Side Story, Death on The Nile, and In The Heights on the roof terrace.

Frederic said: “We’ve been working in partnership with Purbeck Film Festival, so we’ve been doing movie nights outdoors on the roof terrace.

“All the profit goes entirely to Dorset Mind- our local partner.”

The Old Granary can be found at The Quay in Wareham.
