A VAN driver was taken to hospital after a five-vehicle shunt blocked an eastbound carriageway of the A31 near Ringwood during this morning's rush hour.
Three vans and two cars were caught up in the crash on the outside Southampton-bound lane of the busy dual carriageway near Poulner at 7.41am.
Massive tailbacks built up as two lanes of traffic funnelled into one to avoid the wreckage.
One of the van drivers was unable to move and in considerable pain. He was taken to hospital with suspected whiplash injuries. No-one else was injured.
The road was fully re-opened at 8.45am.
