Where there's Cole there's class. That's Cole Porter, of course, whose catchy melodies and brilliantly clever lyrics made him one of the finest American songwriters of the last century.
This concert from the BSO - with vocalists Janet Mooney, Annie Skates, Stephen Weller and James Spilling - featured most of the popular numbers, both romantic and comic, with the whole company elegantly attired for the sparkling occasion.
Conductor Pete Harrison provided the composer's career details. Although Cole Porter did not make his breakthrough till he was nearly 40, after the 1934 show Anything Goes, which also included I Get A Kick Out Of You and You're The Tops, he just kept on turning out the hits - even following a serious riding accident - for one musical after another.
Ballads like I Love Paris, and the sublime Begin The Beguine, contrasted with the humorous gems.
Then to round off the evening - why, Night And Day, naturally. Pure Cole Porter.
