SOME excellent fish have been recorded during the past few days by shore anglers with Michael Hales from Broadstone beaching a personal best bass at Southbourne.

Hales used a fillet of mackerel presented on a single 2/0 hook fished at close range in the surf to tempt the specimen which tipped the scales at 8-3 before being released.

Slightly further afield, Jason Mills beached a 9-1 small-eyed-ray while targeting the Hordle Cliff section.

Mills used a large squid bait presented on a 4/0 pennel rig to tempt the specimen which was returned alive.
