RINGWOOD will fall silent this weekend ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral in a special ceremony open to the public.
On the eve of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, there will be a commemorative service in Ringwood Parish Church at 6pm on Sunday, September 18.
All residents are welcome to the ceremony which is described as a moment of reflection ahead of the funeral on Monday.
Following the service, deputy town mayor Cllr Rae Frederick and others will gather in the Market Place for a minute of silence at 8pm which is to be followed by the singing of the national anthem.
To enable the town council’s staff to commemorate Her Majesty’s reign, Ringwood Gateway will be closed on Monday, September 19.
On the day following the funeral (Tuesday 20 September), the town flag in Gateway Square will return to full mast and the book of condolence will close at 4pm.
Ringwood previously marked the acceding of King Charles III on Sunday, September 11, where mayor Gareth DeBoos read the official proclamation to dozens gathered in the Gateway Square.
