COUNCIL services in the New Forest will be suspended on Monday in line with national protocols during the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

New Forest District Council (NFDC) has said recycling and rubbish collections will not take place on Monday, September 19, as both a mark of respect and in accordance with protocol.

Residents are being advised that if their collection was due on this day, to keep waste and recycling in a safe place until the next scheduled collection day, and the extra will be collected.

NFDC said in an email to residents and on their social media that services would be affected on Monday “in line with national protocols, as well as to allow our staff the time to pay their respects”.

Glass bottles and jars can also be taken to community recycling banks in the district.

For garden waste collections, the advice is to use black or clear bags for any extra garden waste, which will be collected in addition to usual garden waste sacks on the next scheduled garden waste collection.

Collection dates and more information and advice on waste can be seen by visiting newforest.gov.uk/servicedisruption online. Residents can also visit newforest.gov.uk for updates and information about other affected services.

Urgent issues can still be raised with NFDC's emergency out of hours team on Monday on 023 8028 5250 or 07771 259 098.
