New Aldi store in town finally set to open opposite Tesco

Following a protracted effort to secure planning permission, the Aldi in New Milton will open at 8am on Thursday, September 22.

The store in Caird Avenue will by run by store manager Claudia Jardim, along with a team of 40 staff.

Shoppers will be able to buy fresh British meat products, Aldi’s ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, and a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store.

Aldi’s Specialbuys will be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Saturday, with all manner on offer from electrical items to garden tools.

To celebrate the discount supermarket’s partnership with Paralympics GB, staff will be joined by gold medalist Aaron Phipps, who will be cutting the all-important ribbon on opening morning.

Wheelchair rugby star Aaron will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from to the first 30 customers in the queue.

Store manager Claudia said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in New Milton. It’s set to be a special day and having Paralympic hero Aaron Phipps join us will make it a morning to remember.”

Aaron added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of ParalympicsGB.”

The new store is asking local charities and food banks in New Milton to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations.

Charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to seven days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.

The supermarket will be open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
