CHERRIES fans have swarmed a café in Christchurch to catch a glimpse of two football stars.

AFC Bournemouth players Jordan Zemura and Jaidon Anthony have visited the Cherries on the Grove Café for a special meet and greet event on Wednesday, September 14.

The football-themed eatery welcomed in plenty of Cherries fans, keen to get pictures and autographs from the players.

Speaking on the day, Jordan Zemura said: “For me personally, and I think Jaidon as well, it’s nice to see the young kids and families coming to see us. You can see how much of family community Bournemouth is, and we want to be a part of that as much as we can”

Jaidon Anthony added: “It’s been really nice to meet everyone, and the cafe is really nice.”

The occasion was organised by the café owner Mandy Noris, who is a huge AFC Bournemouth fan herself.

She described Wednesday’s turnout as “amazing” and said: “I think it's lovely. Bournemouth is still a very much a community football team- even though they’re in the premiership. They’re very good at meeting local people and holding meet and greets.

“And the sun’s come out for it.”

The event was also a chance for Mandy to showcase her new Christchurch café, which follows on from success at her established Cherries café in Curzon Road in Springbourne.

With Cherries on the Grove only being open a month, Mandy was pleased to welcome a new set of customers to the event.

She said: “I wanted to have the players here to let people know we’re here, and we’re another branch of Cherries.

“I’m such a community person, and this is a new community for me.

“I’d love to get something going on at the other Cherries, because it’s so close to the stadium, so I’m hoping we can have something else there.”
