A SEVEN-year-old girl from Christchurch says she is "honoured" to have received one of the last royal cards sent out by the Queen before her death.

Ivy Arnold is a "huge fan" of the Queen and she was "over the moon" when she received a card on Wednesday, September 7, the day before the Queen's passing.

The card from the Queen came after Ivy sent her a letter in which she described Her Majesty as the "greatest Queen ever".

The next day when the news broke that Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96, Ivy was "gutted" but also "honoured" to be one of the last few people to receive a card from Her Majesty.

Chloe Arnold, Ivy's mum said: "Ivy was over the moon when she received a response. She didn’t know what to do or say because when she sent the letter she never expected a response.

"She was absolutely gutted when the news broke.

"She said to me the other night 'it was one of my dreams to one day meet the Queen and now I never will' however we then explained to her, that it is a really nice memory that she now has which not a lot of other people will have it made it a bit easier for her."

Ivy is currently sorting out a frame in which to place her card from the Queen so she can always treasure the memory.

Chloe added: "Ivy is such a huge fan of the Queen, she has got everything Queen related my friend crotched her a big Queen hat, she has Queen pyjamas and everything you can think of."

Ivy was due to travel to Buckingham Palace this weekend for her birthday, but this has now had to be cancelled.

She will still travel to London because she wants to lay down some flowers for the Queen and she will visit the palace in the future.
