AN IMAGE of Her Majesty The Queen displayed in Highcliffe has been “very well received” by residents.

A picture of The Queen has been installed on the coronation clock in Highcliffe high street as a mark of respect by the town.

It was attached to the eight-foot-high clock marking King George V's coronation by the Highcliffe Action Team (HAT), who have encouraged residents to leave their messages of condolence and thanks.

HAT’s communications officer Jane Dean said: “We share the loss of our wonderful Queen with the whole nation. But, in our little corner of the world, we wanted to give the residents of Highcliffe somewhere to reflect upon this huge loss.

"Jeanette Lovelock and Sign Envy came up with the idea which we feel is a most fitting tribute.”

A message left on by the coronation clock reads: “Thank you Your Majesty for your loyalty, compassion, and devotion. The nation weeps, but we are proud to continue your legacy.”
