A HOSPICE in Poole is due to return with its well-loved community event next month.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is bringing ‘Candles on the Lake’ back to Poole Park this October, giving people a chance to remember loved ones with a stunning floating candle display.

Volunteers from Rockley Watersports will be placing the candles on the lake to create a “magical display of lights”, before a reflective reading by Jo Sharkey, bereavement lead at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.

Fundraising manager Vicki Gray said: “The hugely popular event is free for all to join, so tell your friends, neighbours, colleagues, and family to come along to this fabulous evening.

“It will be a memorable and meaningful celebration where families and friends can come together to reflect, remember and celebrate loved ones.”

Members of the public can make donations in exchange for a candle, and have the opportunity to dedicate it to a loved one.

Vicki said: “We are asking people to make a suggested donation of £5 per candle. If three people donated this amount, it could cover the cost of a one-hour telephone call or visit, providing support to a grieving family.”

The event will take place on October 15 between 6pm and 8pm at The Ark in Poole Park.
