A ROUND table group has donated £5,000 to the upcoming redevelopment on a historic market town’s local football club ground.

Members of the Ringwood & District Round Table were invited to the home of Ringwood Town Football Club to join in on a celebration of the redevelopment work at Long Lane.

For the last six months, the community group has been working with Ringwood Town FC, the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and the Football Foundation on the ambitious plan to redevelop Long Lane into a first-class football facility and community hub.

The Round Table Grant of £5,000 helped the project be given the green light with work set to start on September 12.

To cap the evening, the Round Table team presented a cheque to Steve Cuss and Andy Battison from the AFCB Community Sports Trust along with town mayor Gareth Deboos.

Francis Charlton, Ringwood Round Table charity and events head, said: “It’s a fantastic project with an incredible community legacy. We were honoured to be asked to be involved, and proud to be able to assist in making the dream become a reality. We look forward to working with Ringwood Town FC and the AFCB Community Sports Trust for many years to come.”
