A NEW "affordable" bar has opened in Bournemouth with the aim of helping people "go out and have a good time, without worrying that it's going to cost them a fortune".

Business partners James Webb from Christchurch and Harry Edwards from Boscombe have opened a new “inclusive” bar on Charminster Road.

First & Last officially opened its door last week on Friday, September 2, and was visited by Bournemouth mayor, Cllr Bob Lawton.

Mr Webb: “Considering we opened on the Bournemouth Air Festival weekend it went great, the atmosphere was amazing.

“We’ve both always wanted to open a bar and there is no time like the present, so we decided to just do it.

“We have both worked in hospitality for a number of years, so we have experience in the sector."

The bar sells a wide range of spirits and wines, as well as ciders, coffees, and cakes.

Additionally, the venue welcomes dogs and offers dog treats.

Mr Webb added: "The vibe is very chilled out so you can come here and relax after a long day, in the evening we turn up the music a little bit and liven the atmosphere up slightly.

“Everyone has loved the bar so far and said they will be returning.

“We want to become a part of the community and for everyone to know we are here.

“We were concerned about the rising cost of bills, to begin with, but we have priced ourselves very competitively, so hopefully that will entice people in, and we will be getting enough customers to keep our prices low.

“We want to price ourselves to make sure that even during the cost of living crisis people can still go out and have a good time, without worrying that it's going to cost them a fortune.

“We are looking into doing quiz nights and acoustic nights in the future.”

First & Last is located at 360 Charminster Road, Bournemouth, BH8 9RX.
