THE Red Arrows cut their display short at the Bournemouth Air Festival on Thursday.

The RAF display team suspended their first appearance at this year’s event after Red 6’s aircraft was giving “irregular engine indications”.

Here’s everything we know about what happened.

What happened?

A few minutes into the display, squadron leader Gregor Ogston Red 6 reported an “abnormal engine” message.

This then resulted in the aircraft being escorted back to Bournemouth Airport by Red 7.

It was then announced to the crowd the display was being “curtailed” for safety reasons with the rest of the Red Arrows then seen on the horizon travelling back and forth to burn off fuel before landing at Bournemouth Airport.

What have the Red Arrows said?

In a statement, a Red Arrows spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, the team had to cut-short the second half of today’s display because Red 6’s aircraft was giving irregular engine indications.

“As a precaution, Red 6 safely returned to the airport early and the team followed afterwards.”
