POLICE will use the “latest technology” to tackle drones flying in restricted air space during the Bournemouth Air Festival.

Dorset Police released information on restricted air and water space to be put in place from the start of the popular air festival.

During the four-day event, members of the public are not allowed to fly drones or travel into onboard marine pleasure craft as the four-day event takes place.

The force said it would have a counter drone team in operation and will react to any incidents of drones in the airspace.

Explaining more, superintendent Wayne Nock, silver commander for the Bournemouth Air Festival, said: “We utilise the latest technology to detect, track and identify drones in the restricted airspace to minimise any incidents or delays to the flying display.

“If we identify any breach of the airspace, we will liaise with the flying director and take positive action.”

Much of the airspace restrictions cover Poole Bay and start from Sandbanks and end in Southbourne.
