FURTHER episodes of vandalism caused another three Morebus services to divert yesterday evening.

Morebus reported three services in West Howe were adapted, consequently missing some stops, on Wednesday evening (August 31) due to vandalism committed to its vehicles.

Vandalism was first reported on the 5 and 5a services in West Howe shortly after 9pm, causing a diversion which caused stops between Verney Road and Moore Avenue (5a) and Montgomery Avenue and Kinson Road (5) to be missed.

Commuters were informed of alternative nearby operational stops.

Shortly after, further instances of vandalism were reported to the number 14 service in West Howe causing diversion and the missing of stops between Turbary Park Avenue and Montgomery Avenue.

Bournemouth Echo:

Morebus apologised to customers “for any inconvenience caused” and has said previously the decision to divert services in the event of vandalism is for the safety of its passengers and staff.

This follows several similar incidents of criminal damage to bus vehicles in the West Howe area in recent days.

On the evening of Thursday, August 25, Morebus was forced to suspend its 14, 5 and 5a services in West Howe after “coming under attack” by youths throwing pellets or ball bearings through bus windows.

An almost identical incident involving a Morebus number 14 service was reported on the evening of Saturday, August 27.
