NOTHING could separate Cherries and Wolves at the Vitality Stadium, with the two sides sharing the spoils in a fairly entertaining 0-0 draw.

Winless Wolves arrived in Dorset to take on managerless Cherries, after the later decided to part ways with head coach Scott Parker less than 36 hours before kick-off.

Interim head coach Gary O’Neil opted to make four changes from Parker’s final game in charge, a 9-0 defeat away at Liverpool, swapping goalkeepers by handing Neto a Premier League debut in place of Mark Travers.

Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Lloyd Kelly were all restored to the team in place of Kieffer Moore, Marcos Senesi and Jaidon Anthony.

Unable to carve open a proper opportunity in the opening period, Cherries’ most notable attacking foray was when Jordan Zemura saw a penalty shout turned down.

The left-back was clipped by Joao Moutinho just inside the box, but match official Anthony Taylor instead decided to penalise Zemura for handling the ball when he fell.

Wolves’ enjoyed more opportunities, producing the closest chance of the game after just 11 minutes.

Matheus Nunes decided to hit a rising ball on the volley, beating Neto but unable to send the ball below the crossbar, the effort eventually bouncing out for a goal-kick.

Pedro Neto almost beat his namesake in the Cherries goal with a curling drive from just outside the box, but the Portuguese attacker was unable to fashion it on target.

Neither side produced a standout moment in the first 45 minutes, leading to scores remaining deadlocked heading into the break.

The hosts made a stronger start to the second period, quickly fashioning their first shot on target. Billing’s curling cross found the head of Solanke, who was unable to properly trouble Jose Sa in the Wolves’ goal.

Buoyed by their improved luck going forward, Cherries continued to look for the opener. Zemura’s driving run forward eventually saw the ball at the feet of Marcus Tavernier, who saw an attempt blocked for a corner.

Cherries’ second wind slowly faded, allowing the away side to have a few chances of their own.

Pedro Neto again came close when he cut inside, but his effort was dragged wide of the upright.

With the game approaching the final stages, both managers looked to their benches to produce a winner.

O’Neil gave Ryan Fredericks a Cherries debut, having the summer signing slot in at right-wing back as the side reverted to a three-man central defence.

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez missed a gilt edged chance after the away side pounced on a lapse in concentration from Cherries.

The Mexican was released one-on-one with Neto, with the goalkeeper doing enough to close the angle and force the attacker to place his final effort off target.

Wanderers looked the side most likely to snatch three points, with captain Kelly well placed to clear off the line and keep his side’s clean sheet intact.

Substitute Podence prodded a header past Neto, but Kelly smacked the ball clear before it could cross the line.

The closing stages saw another flashpoint when Chris Mepham took one for the team and hauled down Podence on the half-way line, quite rightly earning himself a booking for a tactical foul.

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves quickly joined him in the book after he sprinted to moan directly in the referee’s face.

Cherries were under siege for six minutes of additional time. Kelly again proved instrumental with a big block to deny Wolves a late winner.

The final chance of the evening fell to Solanke, who was unable to turn and fire off a proper shot under significant pressure from the Wanderers’ defence.

A point shared means Cherries move out of the relegation zone and into 16th in the embryonic Premier League table, one point above Wolves in 18th.
