A DISQUALIFIED driver who continued driving to “make a living” has been reported to court and had his vehicle seized.

The driver of a Fiat tipper van was disqualified from driving in March 2022 for drug driving following a crash.

Despite this, officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse Team received information that the driver was continuing to operate his vehicle anyway.

Officers set out at 5pm on Wednesday, August 24, to search for the driver. By 6.30pm they had located him, stopped the van and detained the driver in Seabourne Road, Bournemouth.

The driver tried to provide false details but, according to officers, soon owned up that he was disqualified from driving – allegedly stating “I need to make a living”.

A Dorset Police No Excuse spokesperson said: “The driver was reported to court and the tipper seized, the driver is looking at a further extension to his ban. Next time he’ll be taken into custody and remanded to court due to risks.

“Disqualified from driving? Continuing to drive? You might be next on our list.”
