“It has been getting quite battered and we had started to make enquiries with Yellow Buses to see if they had anything surplus.

“They sadly went out of business and we made a few more enquiries.

“It is going to be used for the children’s parties, they’re always rushing for the bus.

“The locals always talk about Yellow Buses and we’ve managed to save one, it means Bournemouth has still got a Yellow Bus.”

The company, which had entered its 120th year had been handed over to Milsted Langdon LLP, a statement by the accountants said.

Morebus moved in swiftly to replace the Yellows’ services, running with the same route numbers.

A recruitment event at the Village Hotel in Castle Lane East saw Yellow Busses drivers interviewed and their paperwork checked, with 70 new drivers out on the road the next day.

Following the news Yellow Buses had entered administration, BCP Council's portfolio holder for transport, Mike Greene said: "The council is doing what it can to support Yellow Buses, ensuring that passengers continue to be able to access bus services to get to work, education, to the hospital and the shops.

“As well as providing essential transport for our residents, Yellow Buses are also a major employer.

“The iconic yellow buses are part of the local heritage and we would not wish to lose them.”
