A solitary Spitfire flew over the Ellingham Show on Saturday to provide a moment of pride and nostalgia as the event celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Thousands of people turned out to enjoy the occasion despite the very hot weather - umbrellas came in handy for quite a number of people who came well prepared.
Organisers had asked owners not to bring their dogs because of the heat.
The show, in the grounds of the Somerley Estate, overlooked by the magnificent house, has a real community feel.
There were dozens of stalls, ring events, food offerings, vintage vehicles, animals (the alpacas proved particularly popular) competitions and other attractions reflecting a range of activities, hobbies and interests.
The show is a charity run entirely by volunteers and it gives away thousands each year to good causes.
This is sure to be achieved this year.
