WHAT on earth is BCP Council thinking of with the decision on the Southbourne beach development?

It is quite obvious that the council is desperate for money and will therefore sell anything off without any thought for the long term consequences.

Many weeks ago I said that Southbourne residents and holidaymakers are going to need more parking spaces, not less.

We have seen the vision of the new development and if it ever comes to fruition there will be absolutely nowhere for anyone to park and enjoy the beach.

Large notices will need to be put up: ‘Keep away from Southbourne’.

All our roads are already jam-packed with cars every day, is it any wonder that people break the parking rules?

The coast road is already full everyday of the year.

As for the 19 lodges you want to put into the new complex, just how many months of the year will they be used, and would I want to park my car so far away from my ‘holiday home’ overnight?

Take those 19 spaces away from the car park, plus the four for bins etc, and there aren’t many spaces left for the general public.

Who on earth is not thinking this project through with any sense?

Let the Southbourne residents use the amenities they have, welcome holiday folk to our end of the beach and let all of us enjoy the new facilities we have been promised.

We have the best beach in the area. Who wants to sit on an overcrowded beach at the pier when our golden sands are available to everyone?
