POLICE have released more details following a hit and run crash between two cyclists which has left a 22-year-old man fighting for life.

The collision involving two men happened in the Square in Bournemouth town centre in the early hours of Thursday morning, August 18. 

Police were made aware of the crash by the ambulance service at 2.23am.

Following enquiries, officers have established the other cyclist remained at the scene for a short while until the arrival of the ambulance service, but then left.

Police are now appealing for witnesses as part of an investigation. 

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the road traffic unit, said: “I am appealing for the other cyclist to please come forward to assist our investigation.

“I believe there were members of the public who assisted at the scene and I would urge them to please make contact with us as they might have valuable information.

“Also, I would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police or anyone who has information regarding the incident.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 01.36hrs to an incident in Bournemouth.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer. We conveyed one patient to Poole General Hospital by land ambulance”.
