A DELIGHTED pupil was celebrating after turning an E in chemistry to a B in the space of a year.

Jules Hamilton secured her place at Cardiff University after achieving an A in religious studies, a B in chemistry and a B in biology in her A-levels at Poole High School.

And she heaped praise on her chemistry teacher for helping her turn achieve her B, having been on course for an E.

Jules said: “I worked really hard for it, we are the first year to do exams for two years so I was worried.

“It was really awful, I ended year 12 with an E. I studied really hard, went to after-school sessions and managed to get a B.

“I couldn’t have done it without my chemistry teacher Mr Jarvis. He dedicated so much time and I could have asked for better help.”

Jules is off to Cardiff University to study philosophy, and chemistry teacher Nick Jarvis said he was so proud of all his pupils.

He said: “They’ve been a fantastic year group, I really enjoyed working with them and I’m so happy for them.

“It’s been a really difficult time for this year group, they worked so hard. Everything we gave them to do they did, it was a real challenge but there was a lot of hard work.

“It’s lovely seeing them at the end of the process being so happy and being so successful, their hard work being rewarded.

“Jules was absolutely fantastic. She always did more than asked and was just really hard working.

“She was very enthusiastic and always willing to go the extra mile.”
