A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a hit and run crash between two cyclists.

Police were called to Bournemouth Square in the early hours of Thursday morning after a report of the incident.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 2.23am on Thursday 18 August, Dorset Police received a report of a fail-to-stop collision at The Square in Bournemouth involving two cyclists.

"One man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

The force spokesperson was unable to give any further information on the incident. 

It is not known how long police had been at the scene for.
