CHRISTCHURCH High Street was closed for around two hours on Tuesday night due to a fire in a commercial building.
Police were called by the fire service to assist with traffic management in the high street at 11.15pm.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 10:30pm yesterday with reports of a possible fire within a commercial building on High Street, Christchurch.
"Two fire engines from Christchurch and one from Springbourne were mobilised to the incident and on arrival carried out a search of the building to try and locate the source of smoke and smell of burning on the ground floor.
"Two breathing apparatus wearers used thermal imaging cameras to locate the cause of the smoke.
"The fire was out on arrival and after a thorough inspection of the building the crews put the stop message in just after 1am. They remained on scene until 1.30am today."
The road reopened at 1.05am.
