The dog show at Christchurch Carnival is cancelled due to the extreme weather forecast for heat.
Christchurch Carnival is returning this weekend, August 13 and 14, on the Quay.
The decision to cancel the dog show was made after the organisers spoke with Staffie and Stray Rescue, the charity in charge of the event.

Sophie Vye, from the charity said: "I have been checking the weather and it looks like an amber weather warning has been issued and even mid-20s would be too much for dogs to be out all day and I would hate for any of us to receive any complaints by going ahead or cause any dogs distress.
"We will of course still be there both days with our stall.
"Many apologies, but the health and welfare of our dogs must come first! thanks for your understanding."
