More than two weeks later and detectives investigating the incident are renewing their appeal for information and have issued CCTV images of three people they would like to identify.

Detective Constable Jonathan Siebert, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and have conducted a number of enquiries.

“I am now in a position to release CCTV images of three people we would like to identify as part of our investigation.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to their identity to please come forward.”

In the aftermath of the incident, the victim’s mother spoke to the Echo about the “horrendous” incident.

She said: “My son was with a really nice group of friends. He was minding his own business, he’s not a troublemaker.

“There's just no way that anything like this should have happened. Our kids shouldn't have to worry about walking down the street in a residential area and being attacked.

“It was just horrendous.”
