AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a 17-year-old boy following a motorbike crash in Verwood.

George Eddy Pearson Dawson was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which took place in the B3082 Manor Road shortly before 1am on Saturday, August 6.

Coroner’s officer Nicola Muller told the Dorset Coroners Court hearing on August 8 that emergency services attended and found George unresponsive by the side of the road.

The inquest heard police had said there were no suspicious circumstances related to the death of the fabricator, who was from Tarrant Hinton in Blandford.

A post-mortem examination had provided a provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.

Senior coroner for Dorset Rachael Griffin presided over the short hearing at Bournemouth Town Hall, which was adjourned ahead of a full inquest on March 8 next year.

As reported, George’s sister Madeline Pearson Dawson described him as a “funny character, always kind to others when they were kind to him”.

She told the Daily Echo: “He had so many friends and a big family who truly loved him.”

Just hours after George’s death, his friends set-up a fundraiser to help his family with funeral costs. It has now raised more than £9,000 through more than 300 donations.
