Officers searching for a man who had gone missing on Portland have found a body.
Dorset Police received a report at 9.50am on Thursday, August 4, raising concern for the welfare of Peter Spurgin, aged 53, of Portland, who has last been seen at his address on Saturday, July 30.
Following enquiries and a search of the area, the body of a man was found on the evening of Sunday, August 7, in an area of woodland off Grove Road.
While formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is believed to be that of Peter Spurgin and his family has been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. HM Coroner has been notified.
