A FIRE involving a field of crops and nearby woodland has broken out in Pimperne this afternoon.

Multiple fire crews are attending the incident which was reported to the fire service just after 4pm.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.04pm, we currently have crews in attendance from Blandford, Poole (x2), Shaftesbury and Wimborne, together with small 4x4 appliances from Wimborne and Blandford.

“Looks like a field of standing crops affected, as well as some adjacent woodland.

“Still on-going and possibly some additional resources on the way.”

Earlier today firefighters were called to a crop fire in Winterbourne Stickland which affected an area of hard cut corn measuring 300m x 100m.
