PLANS have been tabled to replace a set of stairs and fencing which leads from a private road down to the seafront.
Foxes Property Management has submitted the application for Branksome Towers, where there is a cliff path down to the Branksome beach promenade.
The proposed steps and fence are in line with health and safety regulations at the perimeter of the site’s boundary path.
The existing infrastructure is uneven and no longer meets regulations.
An arboricultural impact assessment by Treecall Consulting on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposed work is being put forward due to ongoing instability of the bottom of the existing steps and its impact on the high, retaining wall above the promenade “The steps and adjacent low masonry walls are deteriorating in condition, and an effective engineering solution to replace them and make the area safe for pedestrian use is required that takes into account the nearby trees.”
A design and access statement by Winkle-Bottom Chartered Surveyors said the scheme will provide residents and visitors with a safer access to the promenade.
The application is currently being assessed by BCP Council planners.
