A WOMAN claiming to represent a charity approached her victim, hugged the victim and stole her necklace.
Police are investigating the distraction theft which occurred shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, August 3.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 2.54pm on Wednesday, August 3 relating to a distraction theft that had occurred in North Street in Wareham.
“It was reported that a woman had approached the victim – a woman aged in her 50s – with a clipboard and was claiming to be representing a charity.
“After engaging her in conversation, she hugged the victim, and it is believed that at this time she stole the necklace.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
