DOZENS of volunteers and residents came together to mark the 70th anniversary of the popular Wimborne Model Town.
The model town marked the milestone anniversary with a three-part celebration over the weekend, including a cry from town crier Chris Brown.
Greg Hoar, of the model town, said it was great to see everyone out to celebrate the event.

He told the Daily Echo: “We have had three parts to our celebration, the first part was a gala buffet for the volunteers with 85 people coming to that.
“On Friday morning we had Michael Tomlinson MP come to see us, he had a look at the model of the model and the crazy golf and the small exhibition on the start of the model town.
“We then had Chris Brown doing a cry and I told people about the beginning of the model town.
“It opened on August 1, and it was not even finished. Some buildings didn’t have shop fronts, some didn’t have windows, but it was the first day for paying visitors.”
Mr Hoar said he spoke of the determination of volunteers to resurrect the model town in 1991, eight years after it closed.
“It was great to see volunteers here. It’s a busy time for us and we balanced the celebration with the fact we had lots of visitors.
“It’s a nice place to come and explore. It’s a real milestone, to say the model town started as a commercial attraction and it still has a big offering, supported by visitors, it is something to be proud of.
“People are doing what generations have done and look round the model buildings, take a quiz.
“For the anniversary we built the model of the model, and the model of the model of the model.”

The tourist attraction opened its doors for the summer season in April, unveiling its model of the model of the model which stands at 1/1000th of the actual building.
Penri Jones, project leader, said: “We’ve been talking about it for quite a while. We experimented with 3D printing of the windows of the model itself.
“We’ve tried over the last few years to but some investment back into the Model Town. I think that’s paid off with people coming.”
