FIRE crews from across Dorset have tackled a heath blaze in a rural part of the county.
Firefighters from seven stations were sent to the incident near Blacknoll Hill in Winfrith Newburgh at 12.51pm on Sunday, July 31.
A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said crews dealt with a fire involving heathland and undergrowth.
“Firefighters from Wareham, Dorchester, Poole, Bere Regis, Weymouth, Swanage and Hamworthy were in attendance,” the spokesperson said.
“Crews used multiple hose reel jets, main jets, a ground monitor from the Unimog, and water from two water carriers. The area of heathland involved was about 60 metres by 30 metres.”
The fire was under control by 3.30pm but crews remained on the scene to fully extinguish it and ensure the scene was all damped down.
