A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences following an armed police response to an incident in Bournemouth town centre.
Officers received reports shortly before 7.30am this morning of a man with a firearm making threats to a resident at an address in Gervis Place.
A large police response, including armed officers and a dog unit, were dispatched with a search carried out.
This included in the West Cliff area of the town, where a cordon was put in place for a short time this morning.
A 40-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested.
A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: “At 7.21am on Saturday, July 30, Dorset Police received a report of a man with a firearm making threats at an occupant of an address in Gervis Place, Bournemouth. Officers attended and searched the area.
“Following enquiries, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Nobody was harmed during the incident.“
