BCP Council say they are aware of ongoing issues concerning cycle lanes in Boscombe.

It comes after a Bournemouth resident hit out at the drivers, saying 'it's an accident waiting to happen'.

Dean Hawthorne, who has filmed multiple cars and vans parked in the cycle lane said: "Having cars parked in the cycle lane pushes cyclists into the main flow of traffic which is a danger because cyclists are potentially vulnerable to vehicles, there are a number of school runs in the area as well, it's an accident waiting to happen."

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “We want to give more people who choose cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly way to travel the confidence to do so safely.

"As part of this work, we have introduced mandatory cycle lanes along Christchurch Road in Boscombe.

"We are however aware of ongoing issues with drivers ignoring the signage and parking illegally on the cycle lanes.

"This is not permitted as it forces cyclists into the flow of traffic and can put them at risk of a serious accident.
