A MAN has received a suspended sentence for phone calls that were offensive, indecent, obscene or of a menacing character.
Lee Nigel Rendell, aged 43, appeared in the dock at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 27.
He pleaded guilty to two charges under the Communications Act 2003 relating to phone calls made in Bursledon, Hampshire, on September 9, 2020, and September 13, 2020.
Rendell, whose address was given as Saxon Square, Christchurch, was committed to prison for 14 weeks, suspended for 24 months.
Court papers stated that the bench felt that rehabilitation was better facilitated through a rehabilitation activity requirement in the community and therefore issued a suspended sentence.
The defendant must take part in up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity.
Rendell was also issued with a two-year restraining order, along with requirements to pay a £128 surcharge and £350 costs.
