COY Pond is an attractive nine acres owned by the council, but increasingly beautified and maintained by a band of enthusiastic volunteers.
As well as the 550 ft rockery, there are new gardens being created by the volunteers around the pond itself.
The tropical garden had included red canna lilies, aspiring to reach 6ft, and a white agave. These have just been stolen.
The gardens are appreciated by young and old alike. They often express this to us volunteers.
So, the thieves are stealing from us all. But it is particularly frustrating for the volunteers who have provided and lovingly cared for the plants.
So if you see someone removing plants, challenge if you feel safe to do so, and/or report the theft to the council.
